day 20/21/22: Gorek Shep to Everest Base Camp (5360m/17,590ft) down to Pheriche/Pheriche to Namche Bazaar/Namche Bazaar to Lukla
this would have been much better if i was able to add each day, instead of writing it all up at the end. tomorrow i head out to pokhara, for my last trek and travel in nepal, and i feel myself wanting to finish this before i go.
these days were long. after base camp, and seeing more sick people, including a nepali porter. he was found alone and unconscious outside by a climbing group from iran. luck of all luck they all were med students! they had the drugs and skill to save the man, and got him on a horse to get down the mountain. goes to show how dangerous altitude is.
so yeah, i wanted down. so we trucked it all the way to pheriche and back to my favorite lodge, for a dinner of buffalo steak and a mars bar crepe.
the next day equally long, back to namche. and then the following day to lukla, to try and catch the first flight back to kathmandu.
