too many pictures of yak and mountains? well, that is all there is, pretty much in this lunar-like landscape. the difference today, that it showed pretty heavily the night before. not a problem for walking, but it did clear the skies.
it was here that i started seeing what turned out to be many, altitude-sick people. at dhukla, i saw two women from the same group ill and one needing a horse to get to a lower elevation. this proved to be a problem encountered until heading back down. i thanked all that i got my sickness out of the way, as it would be quite unnerving for it to happen so far up, and with so little resources.
which reminds me....i think i forgot to mention the first person that i encountered with a bout of ams. it was at the hotel in namche bazaar. a german 20-something that made it all the way to gorek shep, only to have a bad scare during the night. was traveling by herself, and it so unnerved her that she left the next morning and walked all the way back to namche, what is a long two days, she did in one. i saw her briefly, as sleep most of the day, recovering. later when i walked the return myself, i realized what a physical feat she accomplished.
