day 3: Bhandar to Sete (650m descent - 1050m ascent: 2600m/8530ft)
second day of walking, and i was convinced that my guide/porter Mohendra was trying to kill me and that the nepali trail-makers of hundreds of years ago were in cahoots. such punishment to drop elevation, just to re-walk it again and then some. was in such a way, that i was in no mood to video, and just did it to get through it, as my post-thailand/sick body was noway near ready for that. and did i fail to mention the onset of a bit of the ole gouty toe? yeayah me!
day 4: Sete to Junbesi (1280m ascent - 1220m descent: 2700m/8858ft)
are you kidding me? all that work for a lousy 100m gain! what were these trail-builders thinking? the highest point we reached this day was a staggering (altitude starting to hit my lungs from the lack of oxygen) 3530m/11,581ft mountain pass called Lamjura-la. began to see the beginnings of the rhododendron forest that covers the area in the springtime with flowers. was lucky to see a few early bloomers. still didn't make up for the harsh reality that was to be this day!
pictures from the first three days show the path, rice terraces, memorial signs, early blooms of a few of the forest or rhododendrons, tibetian mountain graffiti and first mountain views and snow!:
